Actions against schools without toilets: Nahid
DHAKA, May 31, 2016 (BSS) – Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid today said actions will be taken against education institutions having no toilet facilities.
“A healthy environment is essential for quality education. Toilets and arrangements for safe water are prime components of healthy environment,” he said speaking as the chief guest at ‘child parliament session’ at Gulshan Spectra Convention Centre in the city, said an official release.
The minister said students’ cabinets have been formed with direct votes of the students to create democratic values in the new generation.
The responsibility of the cabinets is to help the teachers and maintain a nice and sound environment in schools, he said.
“If they cannot do these tasks, they need not to stay in leadership,” he added.
Nurul Islam Nahid said one hostel will be constructed with every school in the hill and coastal areas of the country.
“The government is thinking over this as the students of remote areas do not get enough facilities for their studies,” he added.
Nurjahan Begum Mukta, MP, addressed the session as the special guest.
Save the Children Bangladesh, Plan International Bangladesh and Bangladesh Shishu Academy jointly organized the 13th Child parliament.
