provisions for night classes for street children and
equal education opportunities for children with
disability

Topic: Invest in health and education for children

Bangladesh
Achievements: Computer education initiated in
Secondary Schools and Madrasah (religious
education institutions)

5th Session:28-29 May 2006
Topic: Quality education and access to health
services for children’s development
Number of child participants: 81
Chief Guest: The State Minister,Ministry of Health
and Family Welfare and Ministry of Education;
Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh
Achievements: The Government prohibited
corporal punishment (including the issuance of
memorandum to prohibit corporal punishment:
2010-Advisor, Ministry of Education, Order:
Executive Director, Primary Education Office 2008).
In 2010, Education ministry also decided to formulate
a policy guideline to stop corporal punishment in
classrooms to ensure a more conducive atomsphere
forthe students(30August 2010)
6th Session:19 November 2008
Topic: Stop exploitation of children in political activities
Number of child participants: 76
Chief Guest: Professor Mozzafar Ahmed,
Chairman, SHUJON
Achievements: The main two political parties of
the nation in their manifestos stated that use of
children in political and other activities through
coercion or enticement will be prohibited.
In 2009,the Current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,
reiterated the party’s commitment towards
prohibiting use of children for political purpose
during the Child Rights week.

Topic: Education and Governance

Achievements: The Education Minister assured
that initiatives would be undertaken to prohibit use
of mobile phones in classrooms. In addition, he
asserted to include moral education in text books.

Topic: Health Care and Governance

Achievements:The CP members were invited to
the Prime minister’s Office the following day where
they submitted a memorandum demanding for a
Child Rights Commission and a separate ministry
for the children’s affairs.

Topic: Educational Expenses: Impact on Families
and Children

providing coaching and private tuition services to
